37Signals TIME Interview
n the recent issue of TIME, in Top Business Teams topic there was an interview for 37signals with the header saying:
Small is Essential. With a million users and a payroll of eight, software sensation 37signals excels by doing more with less.
They also proudly display on their website 37signals.com a quote from TIME magazine stating, “One of the Net’s rising stars”.
What caught my attention however is a quote from Jason Fried the founder of 37signals to the question, “Why does 37signals avoid meetings at all costs”.
Interruption is the biggest enemy of productivity. We stay away from each other.
The last paragraph of the whole article is what particularly interests me. I’ll reprint below:
37signals isn’t shy about dispensing one thing without charge: advice to small business owners. On the company blog, Signal vs. Noise, Fried shares what he’s learned about the art of streamlined teamwork with more than 65,000 readers. First, kill all your meetings; they waste employees’ time. “Interruption is the biggest enemy of productivity,” he says, “We stay away from each other as much as we can to get more stuff done.” For more of this story, purchase the TIME magazine June 4, 2007 issue…
