Affordable Ipod Alternative

May 30th, 2007

I was a little flabbergasted when I saw this little nifty device which at first look made me wonder, “Is this the new iPod?”. The look was distinctly similar especially the center controls.

I do own the popular apple product but I can’t mod it enough for my jeep which is a top down restored mc arthur willy. Well if I park on a public place and forget to bring the iPod out of it’s dock on my jeep then it would be crying time. So I looked for and alternative, my criteria were pretty much simple; affordable, expandable, small, and sounds excellent!

My first option was a Creative labs Muvo Tx, so I went to the tech store with that purpose, and that’s where I found this hidden gem left alone in the center aisle. It was an a4tech brand and this was their first mp3 player the “T5″. A4Tech was pretty (more…)

Create You’re Own TV Channel?

May 30th, 2007

with the emergence of several innovative web applications, it’s no wonder why some of our favorite things to do in real life end up in the web.

Take for example listening to the radio, in the past we would just turn on the radio, and then fiddle with it’s dials and buttons and listen to either news or music. When computers and the internet came, we still manage to listen to the radio we put beside our computers. Now the radio is already in the internet, we don’t need to fiddle with dials, we click and drag. On example is last.fm.

So the developers have nothing to do but let another part of our routine slapped to the internet… Watching the boob tube… First we had syndicated videos on youtube, or post our own, and several aspiring movie makers started having income by making viral marketing videos. The next step would then be to broadcast a live feed via the internet, and eventually move all of your TV channels to the net.

That’s where WorldTV.com comes in, the problem was in the organizing of your favorite TV channels, and even make it work like Tivo… They currently have a beta release available, slowly but surely becoming one of a thousand staple activities we will (more…)

Design Envy

May 29th, 2007

logo designhat do the following sites have in common? Let me put it this way, you decide you want to make a website for a hobby, then decided you want to learn more, then after a while your friends start commending your work, so you decide to join a webmasters community to learn as much as you can. You get your site critiqued and received a couple of praises, then you wake up the next morning and you suddenly decide to become a web designer, and make it your profession.

After a couple of days you were pretty good at marketing yourself and made a couple of sites. You were pretty much feel you’re on cloud 9. Now you think you’re pretty good at this stuff, but then… you got here and read my post and go to the following three sites below…

Beginners Reflection Tutorial

May 28th, 2007

logo designow do you make cool reflections? Well I could advise you to search in google for a bunch of photoshop tutorials or whatever tutorials you can get your hands on.

If you’re reading this as a designer, or as an experienced “web person” (person who almost spends half his days in the net), then you would probably dismiss this as a “toy” or simply ignore it…

But for beginners, and those that want to use this nifty reflection effects that has become overused now, you can visit this site to get your own reflections in place…

Differing Views for the Stripe Generator

May 28th, 2007

logo designt has come upon my attention that this blog dismisses the stripe generator as either an April Fools Joke, or a poor attempt to make web 2.0 sites out of the box.

It’s a little early for April Fools, so I guess we gotta assume that designers really do have trouble making stripes. Combine this with the various “rounded corner generators” and “web 2.0 reflection generators”, and you can make your own Web 2.0 site in minutes.

Well if they consider it a joke, then why don’t they come up with something useful instead. I’m a designer by profession, and sometimes I don’t have the time to open up my editing software just to add a stripe to a site…
